Mythic gear can change the feel of a Diablo 4 build, but finding it through ordinary world drops is often a slow grind. In Season 14, many players are using a more focused route instead: saving Obols and spending them on polearms at the Purveyor of Curiosities. The trick works because the polearm category has a much smaller item pool than most other gear slots, giving D4 items hunters a better shot at landing the Mythic hidden inside it.Set the Right Difficulty First
Do not start gambling as soon as you reach the vendor. Move the game to Torment 12 or higher before spending anything. The Purveyor's available item quality is linked to difficulty, so lower Torment levels are not suitable for this method. If your character cannot farm comfortably at that level, improve survivability first. Burning through Obols on a weaker setting only wastes time and currency.

Turn Obols Into More Attempts
The method itself is simple, although it can feel repetitive. Build up a large Obol reserve through events, Nightmare Dungeons, and other activities that pay out the currency. Then visit the Purveyor and keep selecting polearms. There is no need to change categories after every purchase. The point is to make as many rolls as possible against the smaller pool.

Why Polearms Are Worth Targeting

Luck still plays a part, so there is no guaranteed drop on any individual roll. Still, repeated attempts give the method a clear advantage over waiting for a random open-world reward.
Make Unwanted Drops Useful
A Mythic polearm might not fit your class or build, but it does not have to be a disappointing result. Salvaging it gives Resplendent Sparks, which can be used with the Alchemist to craft another Mythic item. That makes every successful roll valuable, even when the weapon itself goes straight to the salvage screen. With enough Obols and patience, the Purveyor becomes a practical path toward the item your character actually needs, especially when buying cheap D4 items is not the route you want to take.
